Question about hardware removal Question about hardware removal -- Posted by Heather on 04-23-04 21:50
Within the past 18 months I've had PAO's done on both of my hips...3
pins in the left and 4 in the right. Over the past couple of months
the pins have become more prominent (due weight loss). My doctor said
the best way to take care of this was to have the pins removed. I
have no problem with this, but was wondering what the pain level would
be...will I have to use crutchs for a week or two, etc. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Heather,
My dad broke his hip a couple of years ago. About six months ago he had the
pins removed. He was in the hospital overnight and then home. I think he
was up and using his cane after that. Not a bad recovery and he is 86.
