OA in Hip OA in Hip -- Posted by thom on 08-20-04 07:26
I was recently diagnosed with OA in my right hip. The doctor put me on
anti-inflammatory drugs and suggested I take glucosamine w/chondroitin which
I have for the last 7 weeks. Good days and bad days but I do think the
glucosamine is helping. Also go to the gym 3-4 times a week to work the
muscles around on the hip. Riding my bike doesn't hurt a bit. Anyone else
in this news group have OA in the hip or had a hip replaced?
One school of thought is to have the hip replaced early because it will have
to be done at some point anyway and why put up with the discomfort and pain
until you do have the operation.
The other school of thought is to put up with the pain and discomfort as
long as possible.
Any thoughts?
