If, for example, you apply a hammer and damage the acromioclavicular joint,
can you call that "instant" arthritis, as opposed to the kind that "percolates"
and is associated with the normal, aging process.

The word you are looking for is "osteoarthritis" rather than "instant
arthritis" look here under the header "joint injury"
