This is fine, the important question is to know which companies and which
specific drugs are both effective and safe. Also, we need to know if what
the label says is actually contained in the container and that the proper
amounts are there and that other ingredients are also safe. This can only
be established by scientific testing and not folk tales and traditions,
which as you mention, exist the world over.
