First Vioxx, now Bextra?

First Vioxx, now Bextra? -- Posted by teh fooey on 10-16-04 12:07

There were some big threads when it was announced Vioxx was being
recalled, so I thought I'd pass this along as one of the competition
drugs to Vioxx is looking to be causing problems as well

Any of you on any of this class of anti-infammatory drugs should
consider having a discussion with your doctor.
If you're seeing side effects, you should immediately talk to your
doctor, and seriously consider talking to a lawyer

-
"Pfizer Inc. (PFE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday said two
small clinical trials showed heart bypass surgery patients taking
Bextra, an anti-inflammatory in the same class as the recently
withdrawn drug Vioxx, had an increased risk of stroke and heart
attack.

The company also updated its warning that Bextra can cause a rare, but
sometimes fatal, skin disorder called Stevens-Johnson syndrome to note
that cases of the condition are being seen more often with Bextra than
with other drugs in the same class."

I agree! If someone is dumb enough to take a fast-track drug without
realizing the potential of risk, the drug companies should sue them!
They'll need a lawyer!
