Help!

Help! -- Posted by clair on 05-06-04 09:05

I don't know if any of you guys will be able to help me on this one
because a lot of the details I have are quite... non detailled.
My aunt is 63 & until a couple of years ago was very active. Due to
chronic pain she has eventually been diagnosed as having athritis, I
don't really know any more about the diagnosis than this. However, my
main concern is that she has become so confused in the last few
months, is this normal? I don't know if she is sticking to her
medication, she is meant to take cocodamol & sleeping tablets of some
sort. Also she visits the hospital for an injection of something.
I'm really vague on this as my aunt, as well as being confused &
distressed, is very deaf. My uncle is 73 & becoming confused as well
but I think it is because of the lack of sleep etc. I would be really
grateful for any advice or help on this.
Thanks, Clair

Hi Clair, Your feeling this way is very understandable. I see that you
are in the UK and their are more UK people that read in
news:alt.support.arthritis Click on that to get there. With no more
specific information than that, The very best you can do for your loved one
is to make sure she is taking what the doctor has told her to take and
nothing else. Is she doing what the doctors have told her to do as far as
how active she is??? Good luck with it and let me give you a little advice
about dealing with older folks with problems,,,,, make sure they understand
that you just want to help and that you are worried about them and
not trying to tell them what to do or make them do anything. If they think
you are pushing them around in any way,,,, things get harder to deal with.
You can even talk to one of her doctors to make sure you are getting the
facts straight. Good luck,,,
