Stopped Bextra!

Hello everyone,

After taking Vioxx for three years, and Celebrex for one, the other *wonder
drug* Bextra for two years, I stopped 3 weeks ago, and try all the over the
counter you can think of.
My Physician put me on Etodolac, generic name I guess, can anyone has some
feedback on it.

I am sure you and your doc will find something that works almost as well but
take it with food.

What kind of arthritis do you have?

Thank you Harv, I have osteoarthritis, the Etodolac seems to help, I am only
taking 500 mg per Day and was prescribed two.
What other drugs are similar?

I answer that this way.... The one your RD tells you to take. NSAIDs can
be dangerous and as we have been reading,,,, about more than we know.
The only reason for Vioxx, Celebrex, Bextra is that all the others are so
bad about eating holes in a persons stomach.
Naprosyn works the best for me and your RD can give you a 500mg
prescription for it but is very hard on a persons stomach,,,, just not mine.
Before I saw my first RD, I took up to 3 of those 500s to be able to
continue to work and I did that for 6 or so years.
There are serious numbers of people that have blood in their stool from
NSAIDS, asprin, naprosyn,,,, ect.ect. and die even. That is the reason for
these really expensive NSAIDs but now if find out that even they are killing
people with heart attacks,,,ect.ect. I do not have a good answer for you.
Your only hope is that your doctor does.

I agree with you totally, I just have the feeling that my physician gets
feed up with me, and my habit of asking a lot of questions.
I know your answer to that.....time to find another one...

Not my answer,,,, Doctors have good day and bad days just like everyone. As
long as you get answers that you feel are to help your situation,
stay with your doctor and keep trying to communicate because this time you
may ask the question in a way where your doctor gets a better idea of the
problem or need.

Ps I have found that if I make a list and just hand it to the doctor when he
walks in,,,,, works.
