50mg premixed Enbrel changed effects?

50mg premixed Enbrel changed effects? -- Posted by Hoosier on 03-19-05 08:12

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has switched from the 25mg 2xweek
dosage to the 50mg premixed 1xweek. I have used the new one since 1st of
year and had done really great before then. My "good" knee is now hurting
and the joint popping out of place (not much fun). I have gotten 2 steroid
shots in it which only lasted a couple of weeks. Saw surgeon who did my
other knee replacement and he says it is arthritis and that knee does not
need to be replaced. I in general feel pretty lousy but have been taking in
account surgery to place MammoSite tube and the 5 week treatment for DCIS.
I also had frig go bad and although was not completely out before I found
out I am not sure what the temp went before moved the Enbrel. Since I have
all the considerations I would like to hear if others are doing just as well
on the 50mg. Thanks much for replies.

Hi Peggy, My RA seems to like the once a week shot just fine. I have to
admit that since I have had a lung congestion problem and cut back on Enbrel
to once every two weeks and I am still doing fine as far as RA. Lungs are
cleaning up too.

I don't want to risk changing from the 2-a-week to 1-a-week dose for
enbrel. When the manufacturer was sold and we couldn't get any (for 2, 3
months) I was flared up and was afraid that my system would not react
favorably to it when supplies were available again. I phoned the company and
told them that enbrel was vital to my HAVING a life, but the woman on the
phone couldn't do anything about it. She was understanding, and I
appreciated that. The other drugs, like gold shots did barely anything in
suppressing the flare ups and made me sick, so I depend on the enbrel. If it
stops working I try the newer gene therapy product. Now my R-should is only
slightly bearable with only the head of the humorus replaced. Jan2

I called rheumatologist office today. His nurse said they had 3 people go
back to the 2x week injections and several complaints about the stinging
with the new one. I have decided to go back for next 3 months to see if
there is a difference. I can always take 2 shots at a time if want to and
the main inconvenience would be taking up all that frig room. If doesn't do
better than I guess I will know Enbrel is not working well now.

What is the new gene therapy product? A couple of years I read in Arthritis
Today that a new blood test would be available soon that would tell which
Tumor Necrosis med would be best for an individual. Since I have heard
nothing and wonder if it is available, or maybe they are just not willing to
use it.

Thanks for replies.
