Whacky Dr. replaced 1/2 of joint. Jan2 Whacky Dr. replaced 1/2 of joint. Jan2 -- Posted by Jan Hall on 03-20-05 03:04
My orthopedic surgeon decided to replace only the top of my right
humorus! He decided that, for a woman with advanced RA and severe
osteoporosis. I saw him Friday and he stuck by his decision not to replace
the cuff. After the surgery, he did microsurgery to remove a marble-sized
calcium growth on the cuff. It still is crippled because of pain. My cuff
does not like the artificial 1/2 joint. I'll work it more, but I need both
arms. The L-shoulder is a total replacement and works well, as are both
knees and ball of both feet. If it won't improve I'll ask rheumatologist to
recommend a different surgeon.
He did prescribe a pain patch. Maybe that will calm it down enough to
use it more. Jan2
