Flat-out wrong. It turns out some kids get what is now called Type 2
diabetes, more commonly due to insulin resistance, and some adults get Type
1, which is generally a complete loss of all insulin production due to an
auto-immune problem. The idea that only adults get Type 2, and only kids get
Type 1, is not borne out by careful study.

The insulin resistance causes decreased glucose use by the cells, leading to
lethargy, and hunger, leading to weight gain. It's not caused by too much
simple carbohydrates in the diet: it is treated by eating a saine diet,
often one higher in protein and lower in carbs than the person would
normally eat, and especially avoiding too easily digested and blood glucose
spiking foods like sweets.

I've read some of the reputable low-carb diet books. You're misreading them,
or reading the "THIS.... PL:AN.... CURES... DIABETES... WE.... SWEAR....
YOUR.... MONEY.... BACK...." where the way to get a refund is to send them
$50 for the shipping cost of the check.

Then what is the cause?

I disagree.

Inheritance, Klinefelder's syndrome, other hormones, etc., etc. There are a
plethora of reasons.

What causes being short? Mostly genetics. A healthy diet and lifestyle can
keep you from ever noticing a mild case, true.
