question about GTT and hypoglycemia

question about GTT and hypoglycemia -- Posted by Fawnhawk on 10-25-03 16:03

Hi,

I just had a glucose tolerance test done on Wednesday. My nurse told me the
results on Thursday. She said the fasting glucose level was 69 and after
drinking the glucose and waiting 2 hours, it was 35. This looks like
hypoglycemia and it looked like a reactive hypoglycemic result at 35.

When I walked out of the clinic with it at 35, I did not feel any symptoms.
What does that mean? Now, after I drank the glucose, I felt naseated and
cold for awhile and then those disappeared and I felt okay again for the
last half hour. I think during the last half hour I felt kind of sleepy,
but then it went away before I walked out. She did not have them test during
the two hours maybe because its extremely difficult and painful to find a
useful vein on me.

My nurse told me that they were figuring out whether I should see an
endocrinologist and a dietetician. She also told me to avoid waiting longer
than two hours to eat and to eat smaller meals (both of which I have done
for a number of years already). She said she'd give me more info when she
got more information.

So what does it mean when its at 35 and I don't feel any obvious symptoms?
