Hi all. My name is Colleen I am 38 and I am type 2. I started out with
gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my second child. I needed to use
insulin and that was my begining of my disease. Yes i have always been 50lbs
overweight and after my daughter I was 80! finally I lost 40lbs (took 2 years)
and I am on oral meds. Still Iwalk alot and try to watch my carbs...but damn
that is something i can't go without (I think I am hooked) Well my blood sugar
ia erratic again and I really hated the fact of ever needing injections
again, but I am sure I am there. My mornings are gross...278...my afternoon is
like 160.....night is like.....300. I am on a new med amayl 4 mgs with my 500
mgs 2 times a day of glucophage. Any suggestions of new diets? or help? thanks
for listening....

No diabetic with sense would attempt to eliminate
all carbs from their diet. All people, including
those with diabetes, need carbohydrates. But,
controlling the amounts is important. That is
where a diet comes into play. Exercise also helps,
but there are practical limits for most people.
That is where the medication comes into play.
Before you would need to go on insulin, there are
several other oral meds that might work.
You do need to see your doctor because your
present blood sugars are too high.
Some of the oral meds such as Starlix or Prandin,
stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin.
It is nearly impossible to avoid eating just because
your BG is already high, although eating at that time
will only make it higher. This is when you need
something to bring it down. Don't wait a long time
for an appointment. Call the doctor's office and
tell them that you need to see your doctor very soon.
If your meds are increased or changed to others,
be sure to use your meter to avoid any unexpected lows.
