Who else gets pooped? Who else gets pooped? -- Posted by Wrinkles on 04-22-04 17:00
I try very hard to keep my blood sugar leveled and for the most part if I'm
just working at my desk or cleaning house I'm fine. But if I mow the lawn
or anything that's taxing to the old body I'll get dizzy or weak or both and
have to go sit down for a while. Then I'll go back to what I was doing 'til
I have to sit again. Anybody else have that problem? It's really the
pitts! I have things to do that require some physical input but I just
can't seem to get up to speed. Wish I knew how to get past this problem.

Being diabetic has weakened my abilities to do most chores also (especially
mowing the lawn) as my leg muscles are weak now compared to what they used
to be...used to love to walk (4 or 5 miles sometimes), now I do well to make
it 20 or 30 yards without burning pain in both legs and ankles.
I have found that using a cheap, old, manual exercise bike (someone threw it
away - wasn't 'fancy' enough??) a few times a week actually does help my
legs (although it hurts at the time) and seems to strengthen what muscles I
do have left...
For me anyway - the more 'couch potato's I let myself become - the worse I
seem to feel.
Baby steps - baby steps - baby steps. Each one you take for yourself,
really does count.

John I can relate very well. I fixed the problem a little bit. I was on
a low carb diet and taking meds too (I am a type 2) I increased the amount
of carbs and decreased the meds a bit. Then I started taking vitamins. A
good multi, a B complex, an Omega Fish Oil capsule, and one regular size
coated aspirin. Bedtime I take 150 mg of Coenzyme Q-10
These seem to help quite a lot. I am feeling a great deal better than I
was. I don't know if this would help another person, but it is what is
working for me.
I also noticed that when my BG's were running rather high, I also felt
exhausted all the time, so it goes both ways. Too low or too high will
effect you that way.
Remember that our bodily energy comes from carbohydrates and the way
diabetics metabolize carbs is all screwed up.
I have decided to see an endocrinologist to get my meds and diet fine tuned
and see if it can help me feel a little better. It might be a good idea
for you to try also.
