my name is kathy i am a T1 i was diagnosed 25 yrs ago and have been on
the insulin pump for 8 years
you have to be careful with those sugar free chocolates by hersheys for
three very significant reasons
1. they are high in trans fats which are bad fats that raise the
cholesterol levels(LDL)
2. those trans fats have a laxative effect on us they may taste good but
you have to weight the cost and consider the side effects
3. even though they say sugar free that does not mean they are carb
free the carbs in those sugar free chocolates are still there they just
take a longer period of time to affect our bg levels(blood glucose)
i belong to a support group on msn which offers every kind of
information any type of diabetic could need nutritional information,
exercise, medication links, we even have a board for diabetic supply
exchanges for those who have things they aren't using and those who cant
afford to get things like glucometers and test strips or pump supplies,
and information on the different pumps available as well as chatrooms
and message boards including one i am co-moderator for "kittykats
diabetes recipe lists" the links for both sites can be found at the
