eye floaters, retinopathy and neuropathy eye floaters, retinopathy and neuropathy -- Posted by macrobian on 05-08-04 19:16
hey guys im 20 and found out about a year ago that i have low-grade
diabetes...im 330 pounds and i always feel sick
i have eye floaters, lots of dots and strands floating across my field of
vision sometimes; i often feel extremely light-headed, almost as if im dead,
just looking from my body and not taking anything in
i also have muscle twiches and sometimes twitch suddenly when i sleep;
starting 4 years ago i had these twitches and my vision which was once
perfect declined and i started needing to use glasses
are these the early signs of retinopathy and neuropathy and is there any
hope of reversing or curing this stuff or am i doomed?

See a doctor and get treated - today!
The problems you describe very, very often respond to treatment and reversal
does happen......happened to me!

First thing: these are questions for your *doctor* and your local health
team, not for random newsgroups.
But I guarantee that as you get your diabetes under control, you will feel
better: more energy, more alertness, etc. And the diabetes itself may have
been encouraging the weight gain: apparently the onset of Type 2 diabetes
can cause quite a bit of hunger, well beyond that needed to replace that
lost to the inefficiencies of a diabetic body.
Also, your blood glucose certainly affects your focal length: I find that I
can tell my blood sugar has dropped really low by how fuzzy print looks when
I'm wearing my correctly prescribed glasses, and I always try to get my
glasses prescription with my blood glucose at absolute normal.
I'm *guessing* that you're a Type 2: Type 1 onset is usually faster, and it
makes a lot of differences in how you deal with things. A Type 2 on no
medication, for example, is not likely to experience hypoglycemia: a Type 1
is *always* given insulin, there's just no other way to treat it, and is
thus at risk of goofing and making their blood sugar *too* low, which is
when I for example get the shakes or get very cranky and my reflexes are
off.

Essential of vitamin D for bone health (4 posts)
by Rachel - Last post on: 08-05-04 13:54
As many of you know, vitamin D is essential for good health. For the
record,
Vitamin D is not a true vitamin in that it doesn't function as a
coenzyme. Insteadit is a hormone; one that helps regulate the uptake
and utilization of calcium and phosphorus in the body. In this
capacity, vitamin D i... (Read More)
