Help needed... -- Posted by Martin Harvey on 11-06-04 05:26

Hi there

I'm new to the group and have been type 2 for 10 years

I'm currently being treated with tablets: Metformin (850mg 3 times a day),
Gliclazide(80mg 2 times a day), Rosiglitazone(8mg once a day) and
Atorvastatin (10mg once a day)

My blood sugar readings are fine but recently over the last two months I
have been experiencing muscle pain, cramps and weakness with an overall
feeling of being washed out.

I put it down to the fact that I run a pub and usually work 18 hours a day 7
days a week.

I went to the doctors this week and they did some blood tests. The results
showed that I have an elevated level of a muscle enzyme and they think it
may be caused by the Atorvastatin and have recommended that I stop taking
it.

My question is has anyone else experienced the problem and how long after
they stopped taking it did they see an improvement?

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Martin

Sounds like a reaction to statins. Try posting on
alt.support.diabetes and misc.health.diabetes, there
are a lot more people there that might have more
information.
