wife's blood too thick...

wife's blood too thick... -- Posted by S T on 11-07-04 08:42

Hi..........

This is about my wife.4 yrs ago she had a artificial valve implanted. She
began cumodin"sic" "warfin" therapy. For 4 yrs they had a hard time
controlling her.He PT was either too high or too low.About a 2 weeks ago
she had a mini stroke.
Her blood sugar was 40,being human nature to look for easy answers we
concluded the symptoms was because she had a low blood sugar. But 40
isn't really that low.She had trouble speaking for about 15 minutes and
it was over.A few days later she experienced something similar.I rushed
her to the hospital.

She was admitted but only for a day and a half, she was put on a heprin
i.v.She responded ok but not great. In the past 2 weeks she has had at
least 2 mini-strokes,possibly as many as 4.

Her pro-time averages between .9 to 1.4.The drs will not keep her in the
hospital and look for the cause. She's also been on 2 lovenox shots per
day.100 mg.That also doesn't seem to help.

Im at my wits end and im extremely worried about her.

Does anyone have a idea about whats wrong?Does anyone have a idea of
what we can do ourselves to help?We have 400mg vitamin E gel caps.I've
read they help thin the blood.Could anyone give me some feed back?

PLEASE.........Thank you in advance.Sorry for the misspelled words.

Scott

Hi Scott,,, You did about all a person can do for another. Please,,, no
guilt,,, no asking yourself could I of done more or different. It is not
positive and really solves nothing. I hope you get some good replies that
might make things better for you and yours. Do not forget to pray about it
with your wife.

ahhhh 40 IS low and that could explain her behaviour at the time. Now
I keep reading the title of your post "wife's blood too thick"....is
that a fact? Has her iron levels been checked? Iron Overload Disease
can cause the blood to become extremely thick and it's a relatively
simple blood test that alot of doctors DO NOT test for. Secondly
Iron Overload (Hemachromoatosis) is the most common genetic disorder
on the planet. I have no idea if this could be your wife's problem
but thought I should mention it just in case.

Oh, ye ghods, please don't tell me that Dor got another throwaway account.
For newbies out here, there's a nutjob who also believes that Aspartame is
the Anti-Christ who keeps blaming all diabetes on hemochromatosis, which is
admittedly a nasty potential source of diabetes but is quite rare. It would
have shown up in a case like this in the chest X-rays as an excessive
blocking of the X-rays by the heart.

M. Struik may not be such a nutjob, but yeesh, the amount of shrieking we
see about this in the diabetes from the same person under different sock
puppets is pretty amazing.

Sock puppets are bad. If you're a zealot, own it and get on with it.

In my case about a month being diagnosed as Type II I went in for blood
work. My iron was through the roof and my doctor didn't like that one bit
so he did a full on panel, including a genome map because he wanted to rule
out Hemochromoatosis. Everything came out fine, including a resting glucose
of 102.

Well I suggest you learn to look at headers as I am NOT this "dor"
person and to be frank 20% of the diabetic population HAVE
Hemochromatosis and many are NOT diagnosed. SO stick your sock puppet
down your throat and I hope you choke on it!
