While leading health organizations predict the number of diabetes cases to
rise at alarming rates, a recent survey indicates that many Americans still
do not understand the prevalence and severity of the disease. In the survey,
conducted by Equal® sweetener, one in two respondents were unaware that more
people are diagnosed with diabetes each year than breast, lung and colon
cancers combined. As part of its long-standing commitment to raising
awareness and dollars in support of diabetes, Equal is teaming up with Aida
Turturro, who plays Tony Soprano's sister, Janice Soprano on the HBO®
series, "The Sopranos," to launch the "Clicking Equals Caring" Diabetes
Drive. For each person who visits www.equal.com and clicks on the donation
button throughout November, National Diabetes Awareness Month, Equal will
donate $1 to the American Diabetes Association.
