then what are using it as an alternative for? It's banned for sale in
the EU and is illegal to sell as a sweetener in the USA.

Im in agreement with the Splenda Idea!!!! Stay away form things that haven't
been proven to be safe and deffinatly the ones that have proven to be unsafe
such as Aspartame (Equal, Nutrasweet)

Splenda is not a safe alternative either. The chlorine that is in
splenda has been shown to cause some bad side effects. They claim
that none of it is absorbed by the body, but that is false and in fact
up to 40% can be absorbed. However, it is safer than aspartame, that
stuff is by far the worst.
