According to the ADA, in the States, only New York and Massachusets can NOT
deny coverage based on pre-existing diabetes.

The other alternatives are coverage through work, OR marriage to someone
with coverage to acquire sposual coverage through THEIR insurance. That's
all "I" could find in my search for coverage.

I know of several ways to get health insurance for diabetics, but
they all involve group insurance. Almost everybody qualifies to
join some professional group or another, and in general they have
a captive plan. nb: there is always a waiting period of at least
a year before coverage for pre-existing conditions kicks in.

As an aside, remember that insurers do not have an endless supply
of money. There is no way they could survive if they stood in the
ER of the local hospital and allowed you to sign up a the ambulance
brought you in. To the OP: please remind any healthy members of
your family that the time to buy health insurance is when you are
still healthy.

Speaking only for myself,

Its all about money. If your sick, no insurance company is going to cover
you, individually. You will have to get into a group. Otherwise, if an
insurance company covered you individually, they would loose money. That's
not a go!!
