I go to the online drug references for new prescriptions, knowing the
Dr.s don't have time to tell me everything I might need to know. I
found out 2 important facts about the stuff I'm on...

#1 avoid products containing grapefruit while taking a statin drug
(cholesterol)

#2 more importantly no antacids 6 hr before and 2 hours after
metformin. Since I take it twice a day, that leaves 2 4 hour windows
to ease heartburn.

I did ask my Dr about herbal teas and was told as long as I avoided
the pre-bottled, heavily sugared things like Arizona ICed tea, etc.
that I'd be okay. I use Celestial Seasoning's Sleepy Time, chamomile
or peppermint teas for heartburn and they work pretty well.

Even the sugar free "intense mints" work okay.
