OneTouch Ultra Readings?

OneTouch Ultra Readings? -- Posted by SBC on 02-27-05 09:02

I have a OneTouch Ultra testing system. I took 3 readings this morning to
see what the results would be for accuracy. I got 144, 133, 157 in that
order and within 2 minutes of time from the same finger.

Is this accuracy within range? I did calibrate the meter yesterday because I
thought I was receiving too high readings.

Thank you!

They are too high, try this:

Dunno about the accuracy, call the number on the back of the meter and ask
them.

I think I may have already posted about this in another group, but I had
the same experience with that same meter.

I had just received it from my diabetic supplier. I understand that
there may be differences between meters. I had been using the Accu-check
Active meter. Since I carefully track my results everyday, I wanted to
see how different the two meters performed.

First, I checked with the Accu-check. I got a 107.

Then, I did 6 back-to-back tests with the OneTouch. I got 6 totally
different readings, with a difference of up to 40 points!

I did 2 more tests with the Ultra. This time, I used the same drop of
blood. I squeezed out a nice drop of blood and let it set on my finger.
I let the strip suck up some blood from it and measure. I then
immediately (using the exact same drop of blood) measured again. The
meter measured and came up with over a 30 point difference!

Okay, So, I did the Accu-check first and got a 107. I then did those 8
tests on the OneTouch and all of those readings were very different.
Then, just for the sake of curiosity, I then went and did another test
with the Accu-check. Guess what?!? The Accu-check reported the same 107
that I got the first time I had checked it!

I called my diabetic supplier and asked him to send me some Accu-check
strips and to pick up his OneTouch.

I wouldn't even mind if the meter was way off, as long as it was
consistent! But, that OneTouch was all over the place. Bad meter? Maybe.
But, I don't have the resources to be wasting strips like that.

YMMV

Cheers!

You should contact the manufacturer of your test meter to discuss your
concerns, as well as your doctor.
