UA results

UA results -- Posted by Joe on 03-23-05 13:50

Hi just had a couple questions, i've been a reader in the newsgroup for a
while, i find very useful info here. so i thought i'd turn here for some
answers if possible. I did a 24 hour UA and the results came back around
2000 for the amount of protein. i know this is bad, i think normal is 37 or
something. so my doctor referred me to a kidney specialist. i dont go until
next week, My first question is during the course of the test i did do some
heavy lifting, i helped my friend move that day. would that throw off the
test? and second, what UA protein result numbers do they usually recommend
dialysis? i dont know exactly why my doctor recommened the kidney
specialist but i only got the referral in the mail so now i gotta wait it
out and i admit it does have me worried. thanks in advance for any info!

-Joe

I would just call your doctor's office and let him/her know your
concerns. I had a positive reading plus a history of kidney stones
and I drove myself nuts trying to figure out if they were related.
They weren't but I could have stopped worrying alot sooner. This site
is great for general info but specifics can take time to be answered.
So, just call your regular doctor (the one who referred you to the
specialist and let his/her nurse that you have had time to think of
your results and know have questions for the doctor. The doctor should
call you back within 24 hours. Good luck! I know this can be
fustrating.

PS I ended up getting my answers the hard way by landing in the
emergency room with a 7mm kidney stone, OUCH!
