When is sugar highest after eating? And other questions. When is sugar highest after eating? And other questions. -- Posted by newsgroupreader.com on 04-02-05 07:45
I'm taking Actos 30mg (q.d.) & generic Glucophage 500mg (b.i.d.). When
first diagnosed I was also taking glipizide ER 10mg, but when my sugar came
down to range from 446, it was making me into a vegetable even though my
sugar never went too low while I was on it.
After someone eats, in general when will sugar be at it's highest point? At
2 hours it should be back to normal range correct?
After eating, what is acceptable for sugar to rise to? Someone told me 200
I'd like to hear from someone else that that is correct.
I have been very good about cutting pop and candy out over last 6 weeks. I
was consuming a lot. Is it okay maybe once a month to eat a candy bar or is
that too much work for pancreas?
I've heard so much that caffeine can screw with insulin, but I've quit
drinking 2 44oz Mt. Dews every day and I would really like to sip on Lite
caffeine coffee with Splenda all day. Maybe that's not ideal, but it's got
to beat 2 44oz Mt. Dews.

It depends on what you are eating, what kind of exercise you did/will do,
your own body chemistry, etc. Some things may peak in a few minutes, other
things may take several hours. The only way to know is to test several
times for each different type of meal until the numbers start going down.
Most things I eat will peak within one hour, sometimes 2.

It is probably safe to say you will not hear that here. Read this to see
what I mean.

It depends, how big is the candy car and how high does it make you go? You
may find the fun size bar is ok once in a while, or maybe not. I only drink
soda now if I'm hypo and don't have anything else handy. If you lose a lot
of weight and get more exercise you may find you can tolerate more in a few
months than you can now.

I haven't noticed any problem with caffeine, myself, but I only drink 2 mugs
of coffee each day and never past noon. Stopping caffeine abruptly can
caused bad headaches, if you decide to cut down, mix regular with decaf,
gradually cutting back on the regular.
