Re: Aspartame (Equal) and Diabetes...

Re: Aspartame (Equal) and Diabetes... -- Posted by Henry Mortimer on 09-05-03 00:16

I understand your worries but I have to wonder if perhaps you have
considered PK syndrome. A very few people are unable to metabolize
phenylketoneuretics (sorry if I spelled it wrong). For those, consuming any
product that has phenylalanine (aspartame) causes problems, especially with
vision. For those of us who can metabolize phenylketoneuretics, there does
not seem to be a problem. Is it possible that your information is strictly
related to those afflicted with PK syndrome? In fact, you might notice that
any product that contains aspartame will also contain the warning:
"phenylketoneuretics: contains phenylalanine". That little known warning is
only directed towards those with PK syndrome who know to look for it.
