Lets let the experts in here decide Re: Lets let the experts in here decide -- Posted by RK on 07-03-05 19:38
There doesn't need to be any evidence to be shown
it's common logic... Fibromyalgia (which I have a hard
time believing in but thats another story) causes 'PAIN'
which in turn causes our bodies to put out it's natural
pain killer of Cortisol... Cortisol is glucose based...
thus... I see it EVERYDAY with my Chronic pain from
my back... I don't take pain meds to reduce my pain, I
swell and hurt, thus causing a huge spike in my glucose.
Granted. we T1's get hit harder.. but I'll bet if you experimented
with and without pain meds., there will be a huge difference
in my glucose readings as well as how fast you go back down.
It does (pain) cause insulin resistance..

Thanks for the support RK. I met an immune dysfunction type doctor yesterday
and he mentioned Cortisol and a host of other things that made my head spin.
He and a cardio doctor both stated that stress definitely can make you bg
go up dramatically.

You would believe it if you had it that's for sure! Stop by
News:alt.med.fibromyalgia and tell us why you don't believe in FMS.

If you have any links to articles that show this to be fact I would love to
have them. Please post some links RK if you have any.

You're welcomed. I had a hell of a time conviencing my GP of this a few
years back.. he refused to believe that it had that much effect.
Today.. I didn't take any meds.. woke at 89mg.. by mid afternoon
was at 347.. injected 3u and 3hrs later nothing.. took pain meds. injected
again only 1u and well a hour and half later I"m sitting here at 79.. go
figure.

"Cortisol Diabetes" in google iirc. or "Pain Cortisol Diabetes" just flip
the words around.. the references will come up for ya.

Well I'm so tired of fighting I hired a lawyer and have a few more probono
on the way. My point is here are the facts so why did you ignore them?

I think we understand these things more because it is us with the problem so
we read and read.

Just sticking my chemists' head in here after seeing the line about
cortisol being "glucose based"...
Not exactly... at all. It's a steroid involved in glucose metabolism,
but synthesis is from progesterone, or the arachidonic acid cascade,
generally.
Maybe that's what he meant anyway, but to me it sounded like RK was
saying that cortisol was created from glucose. Prolly meant their
respective *levels* are related.
Not looking for a flame, but organic synthesis was my specialty so it
was a natural reaction for me. ;~)
Here's a decent link I found via google:

for the reading impaired... cortisol is a natural pain reliever
in the body.. when we hurt, our cortisol levels increase thus
causing our glucose to increase.
I never said anything about it being "glucose based"
and yes, I've had my cortisol levels tested when I'm in pain
and when I have pain relief... notice not pain free. there is a
huge difference in levels.. as well as causing the bodies C-Reactive
Protein to increase also if you have inflamation along with the
pain... Chronic pain people are noted to have high C-Reactive
levels.

Hello,
Does anyone know how long it can take for a Bakers cyst to form? Can it

Thanks.
