Three years of dealing with this plan has driven me nuts. Every time
I take a prescription to a pharmacist I'm told HIP doesn't cover it.
EVERY TIME! Then a process must start. It involves all of these
parties being called at least twice: The doctor's receptionist, the
doctor, HIP's toll free hold line. Sometimes the pharmacist helps by
making some calls because ultimately he/she has to speak to an
authority before changing a prescription. Most times I have to make
the calls. The worst is at night when the doctor has gone home and
HIP is closed.
This year I've needed more pharmaceuticals and have had the hardest
time with HIP so I'm going to change to another provider this next
open enrollment period.
